Author Catherine Marenghi - Ancestors and Destiny

Join author Catherine Marenghi on Sunday, January 8, 2023, for a presentation about her new book, Our Good Name, a historical novel about the struggle of turn-of-the-20th century Italian immigrants to build a new life in Massachusetts.

Our Good Name, inspired by the author’s grandparents’ story, tells of the new immigrants’ struggles to build a new life in a time and place fraught with the upheaval of deadly labor strikes, the notorious Sacco and Vanzetti trial, rampant prejudice and wide-spread Ku Klux Klan attacks.

Marenghi--a former resident of Needham--is a novelist, memoirist and award-winning poet. In addition to Our Good Name (Arch Street Press, 2022), she is the author of Glad Farm: A Memoir (2016), and Breaking Bread: Poems (2020). Her work has been published in literary journals worldwide. During the 15 years she resided in Needham, she served as president of the Needham Education Foundation and the Friends of the Needham Public Library. She now divides her time between Massachusetts and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Needham Public Library and will be a live event in the Community Room of the Needham Free Public Library. Registration is required , as we have a current capacity limit of 100.
