Friends Program: Dr. Maureen O’Connor - How to Strengthen the Aging Brain


Psychologist K. Maureen O’Connor, Psy.D., will discuss the latest scientific evidence on lifestyle factors that are important in promoting successful brain aging. The talk will include practical advice and recommendations to individuals and families.  Dr. O’Connor will also explain how the brain changes in normal aging and discuss the effectiveness of memory strategies and compensatory techniques. 

Dr. O’Connor is director of neuropsychology at the Bedford Veterans Medical Center and an assistant professor of neurology at Boston University School of Medicine, where she directs research at the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. She is the co-author, with A.H. Budson, of Six Steps to Managing Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia and Seven Steps to Managing Your Memory: What’s Normal, What’s Not, and What to Do about It, as well as many academic publications. .
