Library Foundation of Needham Program: Cooking with Sandhya: Diwali Special
Join Chef Sandhya Jain and learn how to make the fresh cheese Indian dessert ‘Sandesh’ which is floral, light and very popular during Diwali. Also, learn to use Indian spices to make a delicious Chana Masala. Chickpeas or Chana in a light onion and tomato curry is a staple North Indian curry when families visit each other to celebrate Diwali.
Sandhya will talk about the spices used in Indian cooking and walk the attendees through the process of making these mouthwatering, popular Indian dishes. All attendees will be able to sample the treats. Handouts will include both the recipes.
About the presenter: Cooking has been Sandhya’s passion for over 20 years. Her culinary school, Sandhya’s Kitchen, is located in Franklin, MA. “While I grew up learning the basics of traditional Indian spices from my mother,” Sandhya says, “cooking in America taught me how to recreate the same flavors with the ingredients available here. Sandhya's Kitchen has given me a platform to share this enthusiasm for making Indian cooking easy. I get to boost your confidence in recreating all your favorite dishes from the Indian restaurants in your own kitchen while also adding healthy spices and vegetables to your everyday cooking.”
