Needham resident and author Daniel Barbarisi will discuss his latest book, Chasing the Thrill (Knopf, 2021) with library patrons on October 17th.

Chasing the Thrill tells the story of Forrest Fenn’s treasure hunt—a famed quest for a million-dollar treasure chest set in motion in 2010 that captivated tens of thousands and led to five deaths—and the years Barbarisi spent inside it, living amongst the searchers in order to tell the tale. The book explores the nature of obsession, the history of treasure hunting, and the human cost of chasing a great dream.

Daniel Barbarisi is the author of Chasing the Thrill and Dueling with Kings. He is a former news and sports reporter at the Wall Street Journal and the Providence Journal and is currently a senior editor at The Athletic. He lives in Needham with his wife and two sons.
