18 wives accompanied their husbands on the 1620 Mayflower voyage. Only four were still alive a year later. Mary Brewster, wife of Elder William Brewster, was one of them. Being the oldest woman in the community, she took in orphaned children, widowed young adults, and nursed the sick as best she could in their dire living conditions. Learn what is what like for Mary and the other women on their historic voyage to America. Led by Kathryn Haueisen, the author of seven books, including Mary Brewster’s Love Life: Matriarch of the Mayflower and Mayflower Chronicles: The Tale of Two Cultures. Haueisen is the descendant of Mayflower passengers, including Mary Brewster, and has conducted extensive research on her life.

This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library and Corning Community Impact & Investment.
